One of the most frequent questions we get asked is what would be the best way to place climbing holds on a brick wall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The most recommended way is to do it with a chemical cue (nylon sieve + sleeves with internal thread + Resin<\/a> ) this is a timeless system and you can also change the position of the clamps or disassemble them from time to time to clean them, without fear of damaging the support as happens with other types of fasteners. The price is higher than with conventional dowels and screws, but will pay off in the long run.
\nI will now proceed to describe graphically how to do it correctly.<\/p>\n

1- We drill a hole in the wall with a drill bit equal to the outer diameter of our nylon sieve<\/a>. In our case, we will use a 20 mm drill bit (it is advisable to first use a drill bit of a smaller size).<\/p>\n

2- Proceed to clean the hole with a brush similar to the one in the photo and then blow with a small tube to remove any traces of dust.<\/p>\n

3- Insert the nylon sieve<\/a><\/p>\n

4- We open our chemical cue cartridge<\/a>, put the mixing nozzle on it and waste the beginning until a homogeneous gray mixture comes out.<\/p>\n

Then we proceed to refill and put the nylon sieve plug<\/p>\n

5- We introduce metallic sieve with internal thread<\/a>, making it in a circular way at the same time that we push it, as if we were screwing it, that way it will be perfectly impregnated. The metal sieve<\/a> should be completely flush with the wall.<\/p>\n

As the resin enters, it begins to flow out through the holes in the nylon sieve.<\/a><\/p>\n

6- Let the product set.<\/p>\n

The setting time will depend on the ambient temperature and can range from 10 minutes to 2 hours. Once this time has elapsed we have our thread “welded” to the brick and we can screw and unscrew our dams<\/a> with Allen screws<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To place climbing holds<\/a> on concrete or stone would be a similar procedure but without using the nylon sieve (see our tutorial: How to place climbing holds on a concrete wall<\/a> ).<\/p>\n

Very important :<\/p>\n

A precaution that we have to take, when it comes to polyester dams, is not to tighten too much, because if the brick is not uniform, it does not let the dam settle well and it would break. Our climbing holds<\/a> are 100×100 polyurethane and have a slight flexion so you would not have that problem, you can tighten them as much as you want, !<\/p>\n
