Another of the most frequent questions we get asked is what would be the best way to place climbing holds on a concrete wall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We have 3 ways that we will detail below:<\/p>\n

A) CHEMICAL TACO<\/p>\n

The most recommended way is to do it with a chemical cue ( sleeves with internal thread + Resin<\/a> ) this is a timeless system and you can also change the position of the clamps or disassemble them from time to time to clean them, without fear of damaging the support as happens with other types of fasteners. Its price is higher than with conventional dowels and screws, but it will pay off in the long run.<\/p>\n

This way we will not explain it as we did it in the previous tutorial (see our blog: installing dams in a brick wall<\/a>) with the only variant that we would not need the nylon sieve as the concrete is solid.<\/p>\n

B) INVIOLABLE SCREW<\/p>\n

It is a metallic screw + plug<\/a> that once tightened, we will place a star on its head, thus preventing anyone from disassembling the dam. It is not a system that we recommend, unless there is a risk of theft of the dams in the place where they are installed.<\/p>\n

C) STROKE CUE<\/p>\n

It is a safe and economical system.
\nThe following is a graphic description of how to install the dams correctly with this system in concrete.<\/p>\n

1- Drill a hole in the wall with a drill bit equal to the outer diameter of our tapping block<\/a>. In our case, we will use a 12 mm drill bit (it is advisable to first use a drill bit of a smaller size) and check that the depth is adequate so that the plug is flush with the wall (never on the outside).<\/p>\n

2- Proceed to clean the hole with a brush or blow with a small tube to remove any traces of dust.<\/p>\n

3- Insert the M10 tapping block<\/a>.<\/p>\n

4- We introduce a granite inside the block and hit it with a hammer. In this way, the cone inside it will go to the bottom, firmly anchoring the walls of the block to the concrete.<\/p>\n

5- It’s ready, we just have to put the dams with allen screws<\/a> to our liking.<\/p>\n

Important :<\/p>\n

A precaution that we have to take, when it comes to polyester dams, is not to tighten too much, since the concrete, not being uniform, does not allow the dam to settle well and it would break. Our climbing holds<\/a> are 100×100 polyurethane and have a slight flexion so you would not have that problem, you can tighten them as much as you want, !<\/p>\n
