CLIMBSKIN® HAND CREAM is the only cream that has been totally designed for climbers, adapting its properties to the maximum.

1. Introduction

The hands are our direct connection to the rock, the ones that allow us to perceive it in a special way. A well-groomed skin – with callus, yes, but uniform and elastic – will radically improve our sensations, making a difference in our climbing performance.

No extraordinary care is needed, just a little extra routine to add to your climbing will help you care for and get to know your skin better.

2. Care and advice

Before: Prepares the skin for climbing.

– Until now, it was unthinkable to use existing products before scaling up. Use Climbskin Hand Cream one hour before climbing, a thin layer is enough to give the skin more elasticity. This acts as a “warming” agent, helping to prevent various types of skin damage (it will reduce the possibility of smilies, callus lifting, cracking or peeling of the skin from the nail). Benzoin tincture and natural silica also help regulate sweating, which is an important factor in skin wear and tear.

During:

– Keep your skin cool and dry, a common mistake is to keep your hands in your pockets until moments before gluing. A skin with some sweating and temperature increase suffers more wear and tear. On the contrary, put your hands in contact with the rock a few seconds before gluing.

Cut and file any raised skin as soon as possible, no matter how small it may seem, to avoid further damage from snagging in the same area.

If a callus is raised, the first thing to do is to stop the bleeding. Then, trim the skin and file the generated skin step. Apply Climbskin Hand Cream on the affected area and leave it on for 20 minutes, then spread it. Excessive hydration for this type of wound is counterproductive as it softens the skin and slows down regeneration. Keep the wound in the air and, if you decide to continue climbing – you probably will -, cover it with several turns of a thin strip of breathable adhesive tape, from front to back, so it will take longer to move, but when it does, change it as soon as possible.

Cracks, cracks or “smilies” are usually caused by a lack of elasticity in the callus, and repetition on the same edge. In case of occurrence, clean, cut, file as much as possible and follow the steps of the previous point with the wound cream.
After: Even out the skin of the hands as much as possible at the end of each session (layering theory).

– You should carefully file off all raised skin before washing your hands! Only wash them afterwards, it is important not to leave them too long if you have particularly dry skin. Filing hands still with magnesium will facilitate the removal of residues on the file. If you use the Climbskin file to file your hands with some moisture or grease, use the black sandpaper (for metal), so you can completely remove the file residue by filing on a cloth or with a normal brush and the file will not suffer any wear.

File and even out cracks and if you have suffered significant wear to the nail buds, it is essential to file the skin around the nails to promote even regeneration. Excessive callus in these areas is not advisable, as it favors the wear of the yolk.

File excess callus below the crease lines at each toe joint, this will make it difficult to pick up callus or pinch over large edges (especially important when you are just starting to climb or train).

If you have a callus protruding above the nail, you should also file it down to prevent it from rubbing and catching on some grips.

With the skin completely evened out, you should wash your hands, removing dirt and magnesium residues. Dry them very well. Now it’s time for Climbskin Hand Cream.

How to apply Climbskin: after a shower with warm or hot water and without swelling of the hands would be a perfect moment.

It should be applied in layers, spreading it well. Normally 1 or 2 coats will be enough. The layers should leave hardly any residue on the skin. If your hands are a little greasy, you have used more cream than necessary.

Cover wounds, cracks or smilies with the cream for 20 minutes, then spread it out and leave them to air. Repeat the process 3 times a day to speed up recovery.

You can use CLIMBSKIN® HAND CREAM several times a day, before and after each climbing session, without any problem.

Include a routine to take care of the skin of your hands, you will see the big difference in a short time.

Climb more! train more! and push your limits with better skin than ever! enjoy climbing even more, discover Climbskin!

“It’s a great product, it hydrates and rebuilds your skin. It’s not like wax or oil-based products, you can use it even before climbing, which is one of the most amazing things. It’s really going to change people’s climbing. It’s by far the best product on the market” – Chris Sharma
